  • Fitness success is not a linear journey

Fitness success is not a linear journey

You've probably seen something like the image here. Success - what you think
it looks like... and what it actually
looks like. What most people don't realise, though, is that this same thing applies to your health and fitness as well! Your fitness journey isn't just a straight line!
Have you ever been sick? Injured? Too tired to go to the gym? These are all prime examples of how you can't expect to have things go perfectly all of the time. Most people experience some sort of setback, but they keep going . Now, what if you see these setbacks as fatal rather than temporary? Well, you'll be less likely to keep going forward. Why does this matter, though?
    It matters because ....

  • Mobility Training: Making it a part of your daily routine

We often have a bad habit of putting things off until the last minute, thinking that there will be a better time to pursue a task. However, when it comes to your health, neglect is not the best strategy! The countless hours of the day that are spent sitting wreak havoc on our joints and as joint motion starts to become restricted and range of motion declines, simple tasks become difficult ones. Having a regular exercise routine is a great start to combating the negative effects associated with the sedentary lifestyle that the majority of us lead. But what happens when there are certain aspects still missing from your training routine? What is mobility training, and why is it ....

Because it's *still* sick season: the cold on colds and the flu

It’s (still) that season: cold and flu season – thanks, everlasting winter. ---------- Hey, I’m Danica! I’ve been lucky enough to mostly avoid getting sick this winter, but it’s not over yet. So instead of spreading germs, I’m spreading some handy information on the cold and its influence on colds. ---------- The CDC has been closely monitoring flu activity, as they do, and their studies have shown that in 2015 and 2016, the peak month for getting the flu was February (followed by December, March and January). Why?

    Cold air is obviously
a main culprit. Common cold and flu viruses typically gain access through our ....

Because it's *still* sick season: Coach Klaud cold routine

Hey, I'm Danica! I've been lucky enough to mostly avoid getting sick this winter, but it's not over yet. So instead of spreading germs, I'm spreading some handy information on the cold, and it's influence on colds. ---------- With the cold still coming at us in Canada, it's no surprise that everyone's been getting sick - including us here with Coach Klaud. But there are a few things that we rely on to get back in fighting shape: Elderberry syrup by SURO : - elderberries were traditionally used in herbal medicine to help fight colds, sore throat, cough and fever. Throat relief spray by Beekeeper's Naturals : bee propolis has incredible germ-fighting properties, ....

  • On Coffee and Health - Caffeine for Fitness!

Hey! I'm Danica! And if you're anything like me, you love coffee... which means you've probably heard that they're serving up cancer warnings with your latte in California, thanks to Proposition 65. The Council for Education and Research on Toxics (CERT) sued a bunch of coffee sellers and roasters for violating a California law requiring companies to warn their consumers of chemicals that could cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive issues. How so? Through the consumption of acrylamide
, a possible cancer-causing by product of the roasting process. What's acrylamide? Here, we're talking naturally occurring acrylamide: it's formed when sugars and amino acids in starchy ....

  • How to achieve lasting results

We’ve all struggled with getting things done. This is a short article on how to create positive change in whatever you choose. The key is simple really. Too simple. First, you have to find ONE thing that will bring you closer to your goal. Some examples are: eating more quality protein for weight loss, exercising 2x more a week to increase your fitness, or write an article to help more people achieve their goals. The next step is to put everything else aside. Work on your ONE action item. Implement it for at least two weeks to one month. Then add in another action item. The idea is to not overwhelm your already busy life with tons of changes. This simply doesn’t work. It may ....
